Hailed as “The most powerful composer of our time...“ Philip Glass returns to LACMA for an intimate afternoon of conversation and music from his opera, Akhnaten. Glass will be discussing his acclaimed opera about the Pharaoh Akhnaten with Long Beach Opera Music Director Andreas Mitisek, along with excerpts performed by singers of the Long Beach Opera. Akhnaten completes the trilogy of portrait operas began with Einstein on the Beach and continued with Satyagraha. Einstein—the man of science; Gandhi—the man of politics; Akhnaten—the man of religion. Los Angeles Chamber Singers’ Cappella, Peter Rutenberg, Music Director—In Celebration of the Exhibition Mourners: Tomb Sculptures from the Court of Burgundy Monday, June 13 | 7:30 pm
The Art & Music series presents a special concert in the galleries with the Grammy Award-winning Los Angeles Chamber Singers’ Cappella vocal ensemble, led by Peter Rutenberg. Their performance of French works from the 15th and 16th centuries by Dufay, Josquin, Brumel, Goudimel, and others will take place in the Mourners gallery space. Seating is very limited.
